Golden boot hopeful Aguero to maintain Midas touch at Sunderland
Everything Sergio Aguero touches turns into goals at the moment and with a trip to the Stadium of Light in the offing, the Manchester City man is shaping up to be a great shout for Premier League top scorer come the end of the season.
The Argentine is available at odds of 9/2 with Ladbrokes to top the scoring charts in the English top-flight and after his recent prolific run those odds are looking sweeter with every passing minute.
Aguero has notched up an impressive nine goals in his last six appearances for the Citizens and is currently leading the way in the Premier League scoring stakes, alongside Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, with eight strikes already to his name.
The 25-year-old’s fantastic form can be attributed, in part, to the arrivals of Alvaro Negredo and new City boss Manuel Pellegrini.
His new Spanish strike partner has immediately gelled with the former Atletico man as part of a new little and large combination that has struck fear into the hearts of many already this term.
And some of the credit for this must go to their new Chilean manager, who has already expressed his admiration of Aguero, naming him as one of the best five footballers in the world at the moment and building much of his attacking thrust around the forward’s abilities.
It all makes for positive reading ahead of City’s visit to Sunderland, with the Sky Blues keen to improve on their recent away day woes and Aguero likely to continue his fine scoring form against the relegation-threatened Black Cats.
Aguero came close to completing a hat-trick against CSKA Moscow but with Sunderland shipping 11 in their last five Premier League fixtures, he could do the job here with handsome odds of 14/1 on offer.
Failing that, backing City to win for the first time in five visits to the north east club, with hotshot Aguero on the scoresheet is available at 5/6 and with the teams currently on opposing trajectories that looks good from here.
