Hull City v Crystal Palace: Cagey affair on the cards

Published:

Hull have already assembled a 10-point lead over their fellow newly-promoted side in 13 Premier League games, but it is still likely to be a tight match as they welcome Crystal Palace to Yorkshire.

Only one side has scored fewer goals at home than Hull’s four this season, while Palace have notched the joint fewest on the road with two, making under 2.5 goals the smart bet at 7/10.

All of the Tigers’ five home league games this season have seen fewer than three strikes, with just three of their 11 matches anywhere going over that mark.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have generally kept the score down even as they’ve lost nine of their 11 matches this season.

A mere four of those 11 games have contained more than 2.5 goals, partly due to the fact that Palace themselves have only found the net in four matches, scoring more than once on just one occasion – at home to Sunderland.

The pair’s meetings have been confined to the Championship of late, where eight of their last 10 encounters also saw fewer than three goals.

Seven of those games ended in a tie, with Palace winning twice and Hull just once.

Under the stewardship of caretaker boss Keith Millen, Palace secured a 0-0 draw with Everton in their last game and he might fancy gaining at least another point at Hull before handing over the reins to a permanent manager.

The visitors are 7/2 to win, with Hull available at 5/6 and the draw 12/5.

Hull are unbeaten at home so far this campaign in all competitions, winning four out of six games at the KC. Also newly-promoted, Cardiff are the only away team to score at Steve Bruce’s side.
