Under-fire Abi Alton will be lucky to survive week four

Published:

Week four of this year’s X Factor live shows sees the contestants take on a variety of club classic hits with Abi Alton 7/4 to fluff her lines and face elimination.

Disco week is unlikely to suit the 19-year-old who has already shown she’s far more comfortable performing ballads as opposed to upbeat numbers.

Leaked reports have suggested Alton has been tasked with singing I Will Survive and Nicole Scherzinger’s protégé will need to harness the spirit of Gloria Gaynor’s seventies smash hit if she’s to avoid being the latest act to be sent home.

A number of judges, including girls mentor Scherzinger, have already been quick to dismiss the singer’s chances in the competition.

Scherzinger told viewers of The Xtra Factor: “It’s tough with these themes. Abi is just a singer-songwriter.”

Gary Barlow has also voiced his opinions on how Alton will cope with the disco theme, stating: “I think [Abi]‘s at her best on the piano doing a ballad.”

The only saving grace for the singer is the fact that the public have so far saved her from the bottom two, despite lifeless renditions of hits such as Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ in recent weeks.

However, for those who believe she’s likely to be granted another stay of execution, boy band and week two Flash Vote losers Kingsland Road may be a more appealing elimination option at odds of 11/4.

Sam Callahan is another act who’s had his critics with Louis Walsh previously slamming both his and Kingsland Road’s use of backing tracks to enhance their suspect vocals.

The Essex heartthrob may currently enjoy support from the public, but with his musical talent in question, a poor performance this week could see the 3/1 shot exit the stage for the final time.
