Forest to boost promotion chances with on loan Hull City striker
Published:Nottingham Forest are lining up a potential move for striker Danny Graham as they look to book a return to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.
Forest have been in fine form in recent weeks with a 5-0 FA Cup win over struggling West Ham and a 4-1 win over Blackburn in the Championship at the weekend.
And with his side locked in the play-off spots, manager Billy Davies is targeting on loan Hull City striker Graham to help his side seal promotion.
The 28-year-old was an instant hit for Swansea in the Premier League, scoring 12 goals in his first season in England’s top flight.
But Michu’s emergence at the Liberty Stadium forced the Englishman onto the sidelines and Graham moved to Sunderland, where he failed to score in any of his 12 appearances for the club.
Hull City came calling for the former Middlesbrough man but just one goal in 18 appearances has seen Steve Bruce sign Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long in a bid to boost his strike force.
With the out-of-form forward set to return to the Stadium of Light before the end of the transfer window, Nottingham Forest are ready to give him a lifeline in the Championship.
The Reds, who are 20/1 to win the Championship, are 13 points behind East Midlands rivals and league leaders Leicester City, but if Graham can rediscover his scoring touch the City Ground outfit could go close.
Graham also has a proven goal scoring record in the Championship after a two-year spell with Watford where he fired 38 goals in 91 matches.
His exploits at Vicarage Road earned him a place in the 2011 PFA Championship Team of the Year and the title of Watford Player of the Season.
Reds fans will be hopeful Graham can recapture his form and be the man to finally put Forest back amongst the elite in English football.
