Horrible record has to end when the Bengals take on the Chargers

The NFL is about to enter its postseason phase and our news team have been busy assessing the chances of those involved in the Wildcard Playoffs.

Bengals to beat the Chargers @ 10/29

The Cincinnati Bengals (11-5) can end a miserable 23-year wait for a postseason victory and see off the challenge of the San Diego Chargers (9-7) when the two sides meet in the Wildcard Playoffs.

Beating San Diego for the fourth time in a row would end a massive hoodoo for the AFC North table toppers and complete a season double having defeated the Chargers 17-10 in week 13.

Despite making the playoffs in four of the past five seasons the Bengals have been unable to find the winning formula when it counts.

However, this match-up represents the perfect opportunity to put that right at Paul Brown Stadium with Ladbrokes pricing the Bengals at 10/29 for victory.

The Bolts are 23/10 to cause an upset and reverse the form of earlier in the season but it’s likely they’ll be undone by the double threat of quarterback Andy Dalton and wide receiver A.J Green.

The former may be frustratingly inconsistent at times but he remains the league’s third-best player in his position having thrown for 33 touchdowns in the regular season.

Meanwhile, Green’s 1,426 yards made this term ensure he’s one of the NFL’s highest rated receivers and against a Chargers defense that’s down in 23rd position for yards conceded per game he could well add to his 11 touchdown haul.

The 6/1 for Green to score first is well worth snapping up.

49ers to beat Packers @ 20/27

The Green Bay Packers (8-7-1) will not be relishing another playoff match-up against the San Francisco 49ers (12-4).

Last season’s crushing 45-31 victory for the 49ers in the NFC Divisional Playoffs was pretty humbling for Green Bay with San Francisco following that up with a 34-28 triumph this term.

The fact that the visitors have won six of their last seven on the road before they head to Lambeau Field is another ominous sign for the 11/10 underdogs.

Meanwhile, while many onlookers will point to the return of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers as a major plus for the Cheeseheads, the 49ers’ own Colin Kaepernick is certainly no slouch with the ball.

Kaepernick destroyed the Packers in last season’s playoff, rushing for 181 yards to tear the opposition apart.

Away team coach Jim Harbaugh should go 4-0 following this latest clash against the Packers with players such as receiver Anquan Boldin likely to prove pivotal once again.

Boldin was a scorer against Green Bay in the season opener and can be backed at 10/1 to grab the game’s first touchdown.
