Now’s the time for Man City to cash in on PSG’s interest in star

Published:

When a club is chasing a history-making quadruple haul of titles in a season, it’s rare to see reports of one of their star turns talking up a move elsewhere, but that is exactly the situation that Manchester City find themselves in.

The Citizens, who are 9/2 to win all their remaining home league games this season, are looking good on all four fronts this season, with Ivorian brick house Yaya Toure playing a hugely influential role in the success so far.

Toure’s 14 goals across all comps is easily his best return since arriving at the Etihad, with little under half the season still to play out.

So, with the player in fine fettle and Man City enjoying footballing life at the moment, Toure’s admission that a move to oil-rich PSG appeals to him is highly curious.

According to the Daily Mail, Toure said: “When you have big teams like that, who already have big players, it’s obviously attractive. Being part of an adventure like that, a squad like that, is exceptional.

“My objective is always to work with big players. It helps you to get better and to learn many things. You never stop learning in football.
“For me PSG are a big club. They’re a big team, full of history, with all the great players they have at the moment.”

However, given Kolo’s younger brother is 30-years-old, is playing at the peak of his power, and is attracting attention from a club reportedly willing to throw a wad of cash at City in order to prise him from his £11m-a-year contract, now could be the perfect time to cash in.

City have lost none of the nine games they’ve played without the Ivorian midfielder and have a ready-made replacement among their ranks in Fernandinho.
They’d therefore be extremely foolish not to accept a huge PSG offer should one present itself.
