Wenger poised to offer star striker Emirates return

Robin van Persie is being linked with a summer move away from Manchester United and a sensational return to Arsenal.

Speculation continues to surround the Dutchman’s future at Old Trafford and with David Moyes ready to overhaul a squad languishing in seventh position in the Premier League, the 30-year-old could become surplus to requirements.

Defeat to Stoke on Saturday has heightened the former Everton manager’s problems as his side attempt to haul themselves into the top four, on at 10/3 with Ladbrokes, and rumours regarding RVP’s future will not be welcomed by the United boss.

The former Arsenal captain is reported to have a poor relationship with Moyes, stemming from the Scot’s decision to axe Rene Meulensteen from the coaching staff.

The Fulham boss played a key role in bringing his fellow Dutchman to Manchester but now the former Feyenoord man is ready to call time on his spell with the club, especially if Wayne Rooney signs a new contract with the Red Devils.

Arsenal, who moved back to the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend, are desperate to bring in a world class striker in the summer to provide competition for Olivier Giroud.

Since Van Persie’s departure Arsene Wenger has been linked with moves for the likes of Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney, and Diego Costa in a bid to beef up his attack

With no deals coming to fruition, the Frenchman, whose side are 9/2 to win the title, could be tempted to bring Van Persie, who scored 96 goals in 194 league appearances for the Gunners, back to the Emirates in a £15m deal.

The Holland international, who has hit 11 goals this season, left the north London club in acrimonious circumstances in the summer of 2012 and the manner of his departure left a bad taste in the mouth for Arsenal fans.

But if the Dutch striker reproduces the goal scoring form which has seen him break the 30-goal barrier in the past two seasons the Gunners faithful could be celebrating plenty of silverware in the next few years.
