Aston Villa one of three jobs Sherwood should be touting for

| 29.04.2014

There is something quite admirable about the way Tim Sherwood has battled to try and save his skin as Tottenham boss, despite results dictating that a change is more than likely come the summer months.

His latest offering – “Some managers are touting themselves for my job. I don’t think that’s right” – is a gallant attempt at swatting away the flies he perceives to be swarming around his head.

But Sherwood could learn a thing or two from these “touts” and manoeuvre himself into pole position to be the new boss of a number of Premier League clubs who could  imminently be managerless.

Norwich

The Canaries are definitely in the market for a new manager having sacked Chris Hughton with five Premier League games to go.

Their top-flight status is by no means assured – they are 1/14 second favourites to be relegated – and a drop into the Championship could be the perfect opportunity for Sherwood to bed himself in, long-term, at a club.

That he made 71 appearances for the Carrow Road club will help his cause no end too.

Aston Villa

The situation at Villa Park is getting murkier by the matchday, with no win in six and some backroom staff being suspended.

Paul Lambert’s position at the 9/1 relegation candidates looks increasingly uncertain and with the drop less likely for the Midlands side than Norwich, Sherwood could land at a club with a plethora of young talent to work with – something he openly craves.

West Brom

Despite guiding West Brom to be 40/1 outsiders for a slide into the Championship, Pepe Mel hasn’t brought the kind of electrifying results to the Baggies to convince the Hawthorns hierarchy that he was the right man for the job.

With the Spaniard’s position at increasing risk, there’s a chance to take over the basis of a squad that finished eighth last term and build them back up.
