Celtic braced for Lennon summer move as Mjallby exits club
Published:Neil Lennon looks set to be the subject of yet further speculation this summer following the departure of Johan Mjallby, his assistant manager at Celtic.
The 43-year-old, who played for the Bhoys alongside Lennon, is leaving the club at the end of the season and, according to a statement released by the coach, is doing so in a bid to “seek some difference opportunities” away from the club.
It represents a blow to the work of Lennon, who described the Swede as “a very important part” of the success enjoyed at the club.
Celtic have already wrapped up a league title having amassed an impressive 25-point lead on second place Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership standings.
However, the summer break may see Lennon weighing up his options following another season in which the Hoops have failed to make real progress in Europe, having finished bottom of their Champions League group.
And the Northern Irishman will have no end of potential suitors with Nottingham Forest among the most recent to express an interest in recruiting the former Leicester midfielder, prior to their appointment of Stuart Pearce.
But one club who may yet be able to tempt Lennon to depart Celtic Park is Norwich City.
The 42-year-old has already expressed some interest in the role, confessing that he was flattered to have been linked with the Carrow Road club following Chris Hughton’s dismissal earlier this month.
And while he was unwilling to depart the Bhoys for Norwich at this stage of the season, it could be a different story come the summer.
Neil Adams is currently in charge of the East Anglia club, but with many suggesting his appointment is serving merely as a stop-gap, an opportunity to make the move south of the border could be looming large soon.
