Giroud double among top three bets of Arsenal vs West Ham

Published:

Arsenal will take nothing for granted ahead of their key Premier League clash against West Ham United, with the Gunners playing catch-up to Everton in the race for fourth.

Arsene Wenger’s team are 4/9 favourites for victory following their FA Cup semi-final escapades, with the draw priced at 7/2 and a rare West Ham win available at 13/2.

But with over 170 different markets available for this tasty encounter, we’ve searched long and hard for the three bets offering the best combination of value and likelihood.

Olivier Giroud to score two or more @ 4/1

The Frenchman may have suffered a slump in form over the second half of the campaign, but a home encounter with a defensively dodgy West Ham United could see him get back to goalscoring ways in some style.

Giroud has a decent recent record at the Emirates, notching up five goals over Arsenal’s last four competitive games at the ground, including doubles in comfortable 4-1 wins over Sunderland and Everton.

As such we are backing him to bag at least a brace against a Hammers team that slipped to a 3-1 defeat when these two met at Upton Park earlier in the season.

West Ham to score their first goal in the first half @ 19/10

Sam Allardyce’s side may have slipped to a 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool last time out, but they gave the Reds an almighty scare and, were it not for a dubious penalty, could well have taken something from the Merseysiders, having gone in 1-1 at half-time.

That was the third consecutive game in which West Ham have scored in the first half and, should the Gunners make a nervy start against their London rivals, they could well make it four.

The case for backing the Hammers to grab a goal before the break is further strengthened by Arsenal’s recent record which has seen them ship first half goals in four of their last five competitive games.

Arsenal to come from behind to win @ 8/1

While the Gunners could struggle to break down the Hammers in the opening half, we’re still backing Wenger’s team to triumph in what represents a must-win game for a club chasing a top four finish.

And there is certainly some pedigree for a comeback win – West Ham scored the opener in each of the last three meetings between the teams only to go on to lose comfortably 3-1, 5-1 and 3-1.

With the Gunners winning the last seven games played between the two, Arsenal look likely to stay invincible against the Irons.
