Ladbrokes fatten Liverpool ace’s odds to score first v Hammers

Published:

When Liverpool welcomed Tottenham to Anfield a week ago, Ladbrokes took the brave decision to boost the red-hot Luis Suarez’s price to score the first goal. If anyone failed to capitalise on that generosity, there’s another chance to make hay now.

After Younes Kaboul’s own goal, Suarez backers in the Spurs clash would have been delighted to see him net the second of the match to see a return on their investment.

The price on the Uruguayan opening the scoring that day was 7/2 and that’s exactly what’s on offer as the Reds travel to West Ham, with Ladbrokes seemingly not learning their lesson and boosting the odds on a Suarez deadlock breaker out from 3/1.

No player in the Premier League has set the scoreboard in motion more often than Suarez this season, with his 29 league goals leading his Liverpool teammate Daniel Sturridge by nine.

What’s more, Suarez is the best in the division at nabbing first goals of the game, scoring eight of them in the top flight this term and doing so twice in the last four games in which he’s notched.

A relative drought in Suarez terms – where he netted just three times in 13 outings – has well and truly been ended in a run of six goals in his last five games, so there should be no hesitation in lumping on the former Ajax man when he takes the pitch in east London.

The fact that Liverpool are on the road won’t hinder the number seven’s chances of finding the net, as he leads all comers in away goals too with 12. In fact Liverpool are the highest scorers in the league on their travels, while West Ham are among the worst five defences at home.

Having made just three appearances against West Ham in his career, Suarez got off the mark against them in the reverse fixture this season, netting twice.
