Moyes tipped to ditch Premier League for Major League Soccer

| 24.04.2014

David Moyes has been backed to bounce back from his Manchester United sacking with a stint at the helm of a Major League Soccer club.

The Scot is currently 3/1 to make troubled Premier League outfit Newcastle United his next club, with Norwich City second favourites in the betting at 5/1.

However Landon Donovan, a player who enjoyed success under Moyes during two loan spells with Everton, has backed the 50-year-old to enjoy success across the pond.

Speaking to the official MLS website, the 32-year-old expressed his disappointment at seeing his former Toffees gaffer depart Old Trafford and tipped him for success in the States.

“I would love to have him here…he’s a terrific manager,” the attacking midfielder said.

“I know he loves America. He often travelled to America for pre-season with Everton and with other teams. So you never know.”

It is, as yet, unclear as to whether Moyes will look to make an immediate return to football or the Premier League, but despite a nightmare 10 months in charge of the Red Devils, the Scot is likely to be hot property.

Aston Villa, for instance, could be set for a summer of major upheaval with many unhappy about the lack of progress enjoyed under current manager Paul Lambert and owner Randy Lerner also considering his future.

The Midlands club are available at 8/1 to be Moyes’ next port of call, while local rivals West Bromwich Albion are a similar price of 10/1.

Tottenham Hotspur are 8/1 having been linked with a move for the one-time Everton man in the past and could yet come back in for the ex-Preston manager, should number one target Louis van Gaal successfully land the top job at Moyes’ former employers Manchester United.

The Dutchman is the 4/6 favourite with Ladbrokes to be the next permanent manager of the Red Devils.
