Pirlo goal among the top three bets of the Europa League

Published:

In a night where Juventus face their biggest European test yet and an all-Spanish affair sees Sevilla host Valencia, we’ve picked out the three best value bets of the night.

The Serie A leaders remain the 21/20 favourites to win the Europa League but they will need to impress against 19/5 shots Benfica, while the 10/3 outsiders the Andalusians are hosting 5/1 shots Valencia.

With just under 300 different markets on offer though, sifted through the lot to bring you our top three bets to back.

Andrea Pirlo to score anytime @ 9/2

Juventus face an almighty task to unlock a Benfica defence that has kept clean sheets in six of their last seven matches but if one man can make the difference for the Bianconeri it’s talismanic midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

The 34-year-old has made something of a habit of scoring important goals for the Old Lady and having netted last time out in the Europa League against Lyon and in the previous round against Fiorentina he looks a good pick to score again, particularly as he will be on dead-ball duty again.

Sevilla to score over 3.5 goals @ 7/1

Valencia managed to get themselves out of jail in the last round with a sensation 5-0 win that helped them overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit against Basel but we don’t predict another Swiss-style capitulation when Los Che head to Seville.

The Andalusians are in great form with wins in each of their last four and, as their 4-1 thrashing of Porto at home in the last round showed, they are capable of putting the big boys to the sword.

With four goals scored in three of their last four at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán we are backing a repeat.

Juventus to win 1-0 @ 15/2

Benfica have won seven on the bounce heading into this encounter, as well as keeping clean sheets in six of their last seven competitive fixtures but don’t let that fool you into thinking Juventus aren’t capable of nicking a result on the night.

The Old Lady are desperate to reach the final at their very own Juventus Stadium and have enjoyed some solid results on the road in this competition with 1-0 victories away to Fiorentina and Lyon in the previous two rounds. In fact, four of the Old Lady’s last five away wins have been by a 1-0 scoreline.
