Price Boost: Things could go Carlito’s way against Lyon

Published:

Carlos Tevez has already enjoyed a fruitful first season playing in the famous black and white stripes of Serie A champions Juventus with 18 goals scored in all competitions thus far.

And with five strikes in his last six games the Argentine looks incredible value at 11/2 to net first against Lyon.

Ladbrokes have given the former Manchester City striker their customary price boost treatment ahead of Juve’s Europa League quarter-final first leg in France in a move that could backfire on the bookmaker.

Tevez was previously 9/2 to open proceedings but this latest enhancement has only made the prospect on him handing his side the initiative at the Stade de Gerland even more appealing.

The striker has netted first in eight previous games this term, including in Juventus’ previous two outings and his influence can be apparent once again here.

Antonio Conte’s men are 8/15 to secure a first leg victory with Lyon 19/5 and the draw priced at 13/5 with Ladbrokes.

Those odds reflect the supremacy likely to be enjoyed by The Old Lady, undefeated in their last 14 games in European football’s season-tier competition.

Meanwhile, Lyon  have lost three of their last four games in all competitions and head into this contest knowing that winning the Europa League could be their only chance of making an appearance in Europe next season.

The likelihood of cup favourites Juventus lifting the trophy on home soil in Turin appears to be a far more realistic proposition though, with leading light Tevez a key weapon in the Bianconeri’s armoury.

His side are 13/10 to win this competition for a fourth time with the odds on that outcome likely to shorten further if Juventus are comprehensive victors over Les Gones

Defensively sound Juve secured a 1-0 away win over Serie A rivals Fiorentina in the previous round with Tevez to net and the Italians to record the same scoreline on offer at 25/1.
