Taylor well priced to exact darting revenge on Michael van Gerwen

Over the past 12 months, Michael van Gerwen has been enjoying the kind of darting domination that Phil Taylor had grown accustomed to.

Having swiped the 2013 Premier League title from the 53-year-old, Van Gerwen went on to claim his first World Championship before succeeding Taylor as the PDC’s highest ranked player.

Then, on the opening night of his Premier League title defence, the 24-year-old schooled the former tungsten deity in a 7-0 whitewash.

The pair meet for the second time in the competition during week 11 at Aberdeen and it’s a 40/1 chance that Taylor receives another Dutch-inflicted loss to nil.

Having opened the tournament with four losses in the first five weeks, Taylor is the 1/1 outsider to win his clash with MVG. Five weeks unbeaten and a return to the play-off spots show the darting behemoth’s match sharpness is beginning to return though.

League-leader Van Gerwen is in action twice on the night, taking on Adrian Lewis in the final match. A double Dutch victory pays out at just shy of 6/4 and with Lewis succumbing to Taylor last time out, Van Gerwen can certainly improve on the 6-6 he settled for when facing Jackpot in early March.

Raymond van Barneveld is his compatriot’s closest rival in the table and is in better form having not tasted defeat since the second week in proceedings.

Five of his recent string of nine unbeaten matches have been draws though and he’s 7/2 to share the spoils once more, with Robert Thornton his opponent. The pair played out that same result just five matches ago.

Easily the best bet of the night revolves around the heavy scoring of Dave Chisnall. He’s 4/11 to score more 180s than Peter Wright in match three and considering Chizzy has 17 more than the Scot over the course of the tournament, that’s a price that must be taken.
