3 possible Premier League destinations for Cesc Fabregas

Published:

If you thought the speculation surrounding Cesc Fabregas’ Barcelona future has been intense in recent days, you’ve seen nothing yet!

The Fabregas rumour mill is set to crank up yet another notch with news the Barcelona midfielder has been left out the Spanish club’s new kit launch after a season where he flattered to deceive for the Catalan giants.

And in striking similarities to the events of last summer when Thiago Alcantara was airbrushed out of a Barca promo before a subsequent move to Bayern Munich, Fabregas could well be the next player out of the door at the Nou Camp.

There would certainly be no shortage of Premier League takers for the Spanish international as Ladbrokes News looks at possible destinations in England for the former Arsenal captain!

Arsenal – 5/2 (Cesc Fabregas next club odds)

Will Cesc be heading ‘home’ this summer?

The 27-year-old has made no secret of his desire to return to north London one day and should he become available it would be no surprise to see Arsene Wenger activate the buy-back clause to bring his former captain back to the club.

Fabregas joined the Gunners as a 16-year-old from Barcelona’s academy and went on to make over 300 appearances for Wenger’s men before heading back to his boyhood club in 2011.

Many will say Arsenal do not need a Fabregas-style player after the emergence of Aaron Ramsey as a genuine world class talent and the signing of Mesut Ozil, but surely not even Wenger, who is reportedly under pressure to bring back the former Gunners favourite, could resist the temptation of splashing out on the Spaniard and adding him to the likes of Ramsey, Ozil, Wilshere and Cazorla in what would be a dreamy midfield.

In another twist to the tale, Puma become Arsenal’s kit manufacturer this coming season and maybe they will push Arsenal to make a move for one of their main clients?

Manchester United – 10/11

It’s easy to see why the Red Devils are the favourites to land Fabregas this summer after making three failed attempts to sign the Spanish international a year ago.

There may be a new manager at the helm but Louis van Gaal’s appointment has not stopped United courting Fabregas once again and the Dutch boss, who has been tasked with re-building the club, has given the green light for the club to make £30m bid to land their man.

Van Gaal believes Fabregas could be the answer to his side’s creative problems but Arsenal’s interest and buy-back clause could throw a spanner into the works.

But if we see the hesitant Wenger of previous transfer markets, Manchester United could well take advantage.

Manchester City – 10/1

The Premier League champions have been linked with the Spanish midfielder in the past and if he does come available this summer do not be surprised to see City in the running for his signature.

Former Barcelona director Txiki Begiristain is now the Manchester club’s chief executive and is reportedly keen on the player, while City would love to get one over on their rivals by stealing Fabregas from under the noses of United.

And with doubts now surrounding Yaya Toure’s future following ‘Birthday-Gate’ the Citizens’ plans could be put into action to bring the Barca star to the Etihad.

One word of warning Cesc – don’t expect a birthday card from the club, or Arsene Wenger for that matter, if you join the Premier League champions!
