Arsenal’s Ramsey the stand-out best bet to net in FA Cup final
Having scored eight goals in his opening nine Arsenal outings of the season and 13 by the end of November, the timing of Aaron Ramsey’s thigh injury couldn’t really have been much worse.
There is a reasonable case to be argued that this injury was the moment that cost Arsenal the Premier League title, as they were still on top of the pile when Ramsey was substituted in the Boxing Day success over West Ham.
He only returned to the Gunners fold at the start of April, when he began to rediscover his scoring touch at the end of the campaign, with two goals in Arsenal’s final three fixtures.
The first of these was the opener in the 3-0 success over Hull at the KC Stadium and the Welsh midfielder makes the most appeal of all of the FA Cup finalists at 11/5 to score in the 90 minutes.
Significantly, Ramsey faced Hull in both of their defeats to Arsenal this season and he registered a total of 10 shots across both meetings, hitting the target on three occasions in each match, which was more than any other player in either encounter.
For those wanting to be slightly more risqué with their FA Cup final bets, Ramsey can be backed at 7/1 to open the scoring or 11/4 in the wincast market to score at any time in an Arsenal victory.
When it comes to scoring goals in the FA Cup, Olivier Giroud has made it part of his routine, with five goals in his last six appearances in the competition.
However, Giroud’s price of 4/5 to find the target in the 90 minutes is far less appealing than that of Ramsey.
For Hull, Curtis Davies has scored in two of the last three rounds and set pieces is a route that may offer them the best chance of troubling the scorers.
