England v Sri Lank 4th ODI: Time for Cook to lead from the front

Peter Moores’ side stormed to a 10-wicket victory, while Lahiru Thirimanne’s struggles continued on British soil leaving just Eoin Morgan to score a 50 but such was the manner of England’s victory the Middlesex star did not even have to put his pads on.
With the series now moving back down to London for the Fourth ODI at Lord’s Oliver Yew looks to continue Ladbrokes News’ rich vein of form with three more selections:
It’s really difficult to separate the two sides at the moment but in what should be typically English overcast conditions at Lord’s, we are backing England to continue where they left off at Old Trafford.
Sri Lanka are an excellent one-day side and at evens they are an excellent price to bounce back but with the likes of James Anderson and Chris Jordon wreaking havoc in conditions that should suit, we have to side with the hosts to seal back-to-back wins and the series.
Without harping on about conditions too much, Sri Lanka’s opening pair will not be relishing the prospect of facing Jimmy Anderson in excellent bowling conditions at Lord’s.
The Lancashire paceman looked back to his best form at Old Trafford and with the white ball swinging and seaming around the 31-year-old looks set to continue taking early wickets in this series.
And after Alastair Cook and Ian Bell’s opening stand of 73 last time out they will confident of building another substantial partnership at the home of cricket and are worth backing to overcome a -4.5 handicap to score the highest opening partnership for a third time in this series.
England’s captain will have fond memories of facing the Sri Lankans at Lord’s after hitting 119 back in 2011 and he will be eager to lead from the front once again when the sides clash at the famous old venue.
Cook, who is 7/1 with Ladbrokes to win the Batsman Handicap market with a run start, has been in good touch this summer for his country without ever going on to grab a really big score so far this summer.
The left-hander, who has the highest batting average of any player in England’s line-up, will be desperate to change that and can cash in at a venue that has been kind to him down the years.
