England v Sri Lanka 3rd ODI: Hosts to bounce back given conditions

Published:

England’s cricketers suffered a seriously bad day at the office last time out after limping to 99 all out in their 157-run defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka.

Chasing 257 runs or victory only Ian Bell (12) and Eoin Morgan (40) made it to double figures in a humiliating batting effort which allowed the tourists to level up the ODI series at 1-1.

The five-match series now moves on to Old Trafford and Ladbrokes News’ Oliver Yew has come up with three best bets for the 3rd ODI.

England to win @ 10/11

Things cannot get any worse for England after their disastrous performance up in Durham!

Peter Moores’ side will be desperate to prove a point when the two sides meet again and the fact they will clash at Old Trafford is definitely in England’s favour.

In recent years the Manchester ground has been kind to England in all formats of the game and with the hosts winning four of the last five ODIs played at the venue, they will be confident of victory.

The pace and bounce in the Old Trafford pitch has always played into England’s hands, especially against sub continent sides, and we are backing them to bounce back!

Morgan to score a 50 @ 9/4

Stand-in skipper Morgan was the best of a bad bunch as his 40 top scored in England’s 99 all out and the Middlesex man will be determined to lead from the front at Old Trafford.

The venue has been kind to the left-hander in the past and with scores of 54, 9* and 57 in his last three visits we are siding with the Irish-born star for another half-century.

Thirimanne to score under 25.5 runs @ 5/6

Since scoring 101 against Pakistan in Dhaka back in early March, Lahiru Thirimanne has struggled for runs in three visits to the crease against Ireland and England.

The opener has been restricted to scores of 10,0 and 8 since arriving on these shores and with overhead conditions and the Old Trafford pitch set to be in favour of the bowlers the 24-year-old is set for another low score.
