Liverpool and Man Utd strikers star in best World Cup specials

Published:

From the moment the time passed to signal that 100 days remained until the start of the World Cup, various specials have been made by Ladbrokes as part of the countdown.

Below are the three we believe look especially enticing.

Daniel Sturridge to score in England’s three Group D games @ 35/1

Sturridge is certainly no stranger to a scoring streak, finding the target in all of his first five Liverpool appearances this season and then netting in eight in succession, up until the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in February.

Starts in four of England’s last five fixtures suggest he is virtually assured to be in England’s first XI in Brazil and he also grabbed the only goal in the latest victory over Denmark.

Greece not to score in Group C @ 37/1

Nobody to qualify for the World Cup from Europe scored fewer goals to seal their place than Greece, who managed only 12 goals in their 10 fixtures.

They progressed as runners up from Group F behind 30-goal Bosnia, with fellow opposition Liechtenstein, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia hardly ranking among Europe’s elite.

Greece also failed to score a single goal in their three fixtures at the 1994 World Cup and in two of their three encounters when taking part in South Africa four years ago.

Javier Hernandez and Shinji Kagawa to top score for their teams @ 72/1

Hernandez is comfortably the top scorer in the Mexico squad travelling to Brazil, with a strike rate better than a goal in every two international appearances.

Two goals at the last World also show he can find the target on the biggest stage.

Meanwhile, Kagawa is Japan’s penalty taker and was among the scorers in their latest friendly triumph over New Zealand.

His strike rate at international level is virtually one goal in every three games and he is sure to get into advanced positions as the main support act to lone striker Shinji Okazaki.
