Redknapp planning on a reunion with Cole at Loftus Road

Harry Redknapp is targeting a reunion with Joe Cole after the former England international revealed he has left West Ham and is looking for a new club.

Redknapp, who leads QPR in the Championship play-off final against Derby, is determined to bring his West Ham former charge to Loftus Road.

The Hoops manager signed the 32-year-old midfielder for the Hammers when he was just a 12-year-old boy and was left frustrated when the west Londoners failed to land Cole back in January 2013.

And the former Tottenham boss is determined not to miss out again on a player who has won 56 caps for England and picked up three Premier League winner’s medals with Chelsea.

Redknapp believes Cole’s experience will be vital for Rangers in the top division, should they beat Derby at Wembley, but should they not reach the Premier League the club will still press ahead with a move for the former Liverpool star.

He scored in the east London club’s 3-3 draw with West Brom back in December but that was the last game he started for the club he joined as a boy.

Cole, who spent the 2010/11 season with Lille in Ligue 1, would also be very keen on wearing the blue and white hoops of QPR with a guarantee of first team football after struggling to break into Sam Allardyce’s plans last season.

QPR, who beat Wigan in the play-off semi-final, are 9/5 with Ladbrokes to beat Derby and make a quick return to the Premier League.

Steve McClaren’s side, who finished one place above QPR in the Championship, are 6/4 favourites to win the most valuable game in football after overcoming Brighton.

The draw at the Wembley showpiece is on with the bookmaker at 9/4 but whatever the result Redknapp is banking on being re-united with Cole next season.
