Waving goodbye to Brazil midfielder ever more likely for Spurs

Marginalised by Tim Sherwood during his brief Tottenham tenure, many Lilywhites fans would have been hoping the board’s decision to ditch the outspoken gaffer could have helped resurrect the Spurs career of a White Hart Lane favourite.

However, according to Sandro’s agent, the popular Brazilian has designs on heading to Serie A instead.

Luiz Paulo Chignall, said: “We know that many clubs are following Sandro.

“He would like to play in Serie A, it is a very important championship but now we have to wait to know if he can leave Tottenham or not.”

Having been reduced to making just 17 Premier League appearances this season, it’s clearly left a bitter taste in the mouth of the man the white half of north London call the beast.

In a season which began with Sandro harbouring the ultimate dream of representing his country at a home World Cup, his lack of opportunities after Sherwood’s unexpected appointment put paid to that.

Instead, it’s Sandro’s Spurs teammate Paulinho that received the nod from Big Phil Scolari to join up with the 3/1 favourites, even though his first season in English football proved to be a little underwhelming to put it mildly.

With this in mind, it’s a little hard to fathom why Paulinho has become the subject of speculation linking him to a potential move across town to Chelsea.

As for Sandro, who has forged a reputation as a fierce and uncompromising defensive midfielder during his time at the Lane, there is likely to be no shortage of suitors for his services in Italy.

Among the early names in the hat are Roma and Napoli, who both require quality players to try and help them somehow bridge the chasm to Serie A champions Juventus next season.
