Ghana World Cup star strikes again with Liverpool watching

| 22.06.2014

The World Cup goal-fest shows no sign of slowing down as we head towards the business end of the group stage, with Germany and Ghana’s pulsating 2-2 draw boasting perhaps the best 45 minutes of the tournament so far.

Each side held the lead at some point in the second half, with Miroslav Klose levelling the match at 2-2 to match Ronaldo’s all-time World Cup record of 15 goals.

Germany will be pleased enough with the draw, which puts them in a good position to top Group G, while Ghana now need to beat Portugal to stand any chance of making the last 16.

The Black Stars are 7/2 to beat A Seleccao in their final group game.

Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew got the goals for Ghana, with the latter’s impressive header his second strike of the competition.

Ayew has signalled his intent to leave Marseille this summer, and having previously expressed a desire to play in the Premier League, Liverpool are one side linked with a summer move for the 24-year-old.

Able to play either on the left-flank of an attack or in deeper role as part of a midfield three, Ayew would be a versatile addition to the Reds’ squad, and his eye for goal will not have gone unnoticed at Anfield.

Ayew has spent four seasons at Marseille, netting 49 goals in 164 appearances in all competitions for L’OM.

Having announced his intent to leave the Ligue 1 club, Ayew will have hoped to impress potential suitors in Brazil, and his free-scoring start will undoubtedly help his cause.

Liverpool are looking to bolster their squad ahead of a Champions League campaign next season and Ayew, who would likely cost around £11m, could be a smart addition to that end.
