Championship accumulator: Leeds among likely winners

Published:

The football season is well and truly underway with this week marking the return of midweek action.

Arsenal will take much of the spotlight with their attempts to earn a place in the Champions League proper but there is plenty of action from the Championship on offer too.

The weekend’s Championship acca was let down by one team – with Fulham’s struggles continuing – and Bournemouth are once again included in a fourfold paying out at over 32/1.

Read on to find out why the Cherries should be backed alongside Leeds, Reading and Brentford.

Bournemouth to beat Nottingham Forest @ 6/5

The Cherries have won six games in a row and taken their pre-season form into the season proper with two wins from two in the league and victory in the League Cup.

Forest have claimed four points from a possible six and will represent a sterner task for Eddie Howe’s men but the south coast side enjoy a positive record against their visitors.

Bournemouth have lost just once in six meetings with Stuart Pearce’s side and took the last meeting by a comfortable 4-1 score line. With Bournemouth losing just one of nine at home and Forest winning just one of nine away it looks like being the Cherries day.

Reading (-1) to beat Huddersfield @ 19/10

Reading have taken four points from their opening two fixtures with promotion rivals Wigan and Ipswich, while Huddersfield could not have had a worse start.

The Terriers were battered 4-0 by Bournemouth on day one and hammered 3-1 by Cardiff at the weekend.

The managerless visitors have lost three of their last four clashes with the Royals and won just three of their last 15 games on the road. Expect another rout here.

Brentford to beat Blackpool @ 23/20

The Bees have just one point so far but were unlucky to leave Dean Court empty handed, playing well in spells.

A trip to Blackpool could well bring them their first win of the new campaign, however, with the Tangerines having lost their last five outings dating back to pre-season.

Brentford are unbeaten in four meetings with Pool, wining the last two, and will be confident of yet more success.

Leeds to beat Brighton @ 29/20

Leeds have bounced back from opening day defeat with a League Cup win and victory over Middlesbrough last time out.

Brighton, however, are yet to register a point, going down to Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham without scoring a goal.

Leeds have lost just twice in 11 games when hosting Brighton and given the Seasiders’ poor start another win looks on the cards here.
