Derby County and Brighton backed in Championship accumulator

Published:

The Championship is back in full-swing this Saturday which can mean only one thing – accumulator time.

We’re starting things off with a banker of a fourfold from the second tier that features wins for Brighton, Derby, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough.

Available at odds of just over 5/1, read on to find out why this could be among the best bets of the weekend and don’t forget it’s also eligible for Ladbrokes’ ‘One Out, Our Shout’ meaning your stake’s covered in the worst possible betting scenario*.

Brighton to beat Sheffield Wednesday @ 17/20

Unbeaten in their last three home encounters with Wednesday, Brighton will be hoping to maintain the fine form that saw them lose just three of their last 14 Championship fixtures at the AMEX when Stuart Gray’s side visit.

Craig Mackail-Smith got on the scoresheet the last time the Seagulls beat their Sheffield opponents on the south coast and he will be expected to get among the goals here.

Derby to beat Rotherham @ 4/7

Unfortunate to miss out on promotion last term, Derby can steal a march on their rivals with what, on paper at least, looks among the easiest starts to the season against newly promoted Rotherham.

Post-season fixtures aside, the Rams racked up nine wins from their last 11 Championship games at Pride Park and will be confident of finding the net against a Millers side that shipped 58 goals last term – the joint-highest total for a team in the top seven of League One.

Middlesbrough to beat Birmingham @ 5/6

Birmingham avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth last term but may not be so lucky this time round following a summer of further off-the-field issues that have hindered player recruitment.

Boro, meanwhile, have emerged as something approaching dark horses for promotion, after launching a late charge for play-offs under Aitor Karanka. Victors in three of their last four at home in the Championship, theTeessiders have recruited some exciting young stars who could shine here.

Nottingham Forest to beat Blackpool @ 3/10

The only team in the football league to be priced odds on for relegation, Blackpool are expected to struggle this term following a month-long standoff between new manager Jose Riga and chairman Karl Oyston over transfers.

The Tangerines do at least have 18 players to call-on at the time of writing but Forest have prepared well for the new season, bringing in Peterborough forward Britt Assombalonga for £5.5m and the 21-year-old could make an immediate impact here.
