Ebor Festival Day Four: Farraaj to step up to the plate
Published:The final day of York’s Ebor Festival may be upon us, but we are not despondent, rather we are enthused at the ample opportunity to bag a winner or two.

Roger Varian’s colt looked every bit a Group race performer when running out a nice winner over York’s 10f course back in July.
He gets his chance to land some black type here, and although he faces some in-form types, is fancied to continue on the upgrade.
With his ability to dominate from the front, he could make the 8½f contest a real test for those that have any doubts hanging over their stamina.
Jockey Andrea Atzeni already has two wins this week at the Festival, so is clearly in good nick and could be in with a shot of making it a trio of Pattern race successes at York for the week.
Mark Johnston’s juvenile has some pretty solid form to his name without getting his head in front this year and is taken to upset the apple cart with the two at the head of the market.
A second placed finish behind Ivawood in the July Stakes was followed up with a third behind the same horse in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. That all coming after finishing with 1½l of The Wow Signal in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.
And with the form of Baitha Alga’s Norfolk Stakes victory at the same meeting not working out particularly well, we are taking him on with the son of Iffraaj.
Now we couldn’t go this week without having a crack at the big one.
Tony Martin’s Ted Veale has only had five runs on the flat so far in his career, being more known for his exploits over the timber.
But that quintet of performances, with form figures of 41112, provide plenty of encouragement, especially when that fourth was in this race last year.
Connor Coady takes off 7lbs in the saddle, which means the seven-year-old will actually be going off 6lbs lower than last year.
A win at the Galway Festival proves that he is well within himself, and is worth an each-way chance at a nice price.
