Ipswich Town vs Norwich City: Time for Tractor Boys revenge

| 22.08.2014

After an absence of three years the Old Farm Derby is back, with Ipswich Town playing hosts to eternal rivals Norwich City in Saturday’s early kick-off in the Championship.

The Tractor Boys have a solid record at Portman Road and head into the fixture as slight favourites at 8/5 for victory, with the visiting Canaries available at 13/8 for the win and the draw priced at 23/10 with Ladbrokes.

With the pride of East Anglia at stake, we look at three of the best bets to back ahead of this mouth-watering second-tier encounter.

Ipswich Town to score 2-3 goals @ 17/10

Mick McCarthy’s side showed what they were capable of last time out at Portman Road in the Championship with a fine 2-1 victory over Fulham. It was the fourth consecutive game at home in the division where the Tractor Boys have scored exactly two goals.

With David McGoldrick and Daryl Murphy already off the mark this season and Ipswich proving a handful from set-pieces under Mick McCarthy, punters should be confident of the hosts scoring between two and three goals – as they did in a 2-2 draw away at Birmingham in midweek.

Both teams to score an Ipswich to win @ 17/4

Despite possessing a reputation for defensive solidarity, the reality is that the goals have flowed at both ends at home for Ipswich under Mick McCarthy, with both teams scoring in each of their last seven fixtures at Portman Road in the Championship.

A late goal from Fulham’s Tim Hoogland continued that trend last time out at home in the league, and also saw Ipswich win for the third time in four home Championship encounters with both teams scoring in the process.

Lewis Grabban to score anytime @ 2/1

If anyone is likely to get a goal for the Canaries, who stumbled to a 1-0 loss to Wolves in their only fixture played away from Carrow Road this term, it’s the in-form Lewis Grabban.

The ex-Bournemouth hitman has hit the ground running for Norwich, scoring three goals in his first three games for the promotion chasers. Don’t be surprised to see him get on the scoresheet at some point here, with Ipswich shipping four in their opening three league games already.
