Price Boost: Sanchez enhanced to hit Arsenal opener

| 27.08.2014

Arsenal are on the brink of securing a 17th consecutive appearance in the Champions League proper and Ladbrokes is marking the occasion with a timely Price Boost.

The bookmaker has enhanced the odds on star summer signing Alexis Sanchez getting the party started with the Chilean’s first goal scorer price enhanced from 9/2 to a more tempting 5/1.

After escaping with a 0-0 draw in Turkey the Gunners know that only a win against Besiktas will see them into the group stage of the tournament and Sanchez is being tipped to break his Emirates duck with the first goal of the game.

Arsenal are favourites to win on the night at 2/5, while Besiktas can be backed at 8/1 to cause a major upset.

The draw, which would lead to extra time and potential penalties if scoreless or send Arsenal crashing out if not, is also available at 7/2.

However, despite not scoring in a competitive fixture for the north London club yet there is plenty to suggest that this boost makes Sanchez the value bet of the night.

The Chile international smashed 23 goals in 50 games for club and country last term before making the switch from the Nou Camp to the Emirates and showed a penchant for starting games with a bang during that time.

Of those 23 strikes nine came first in games and eight were netted within the first 15 minutes.

Should the 25-year-old get on the score sheet – by netting first or otherwise – then Gooners can be confident that their side will go on to seal an all-important victory.

In the 19 games that featured a Sanchez goal last season 15 saw the forward end up on the winning side, either for Barcelona or Chile, in what should be a good omen against Besiktas.
