Price Boost: Sergio Aguero enhanced to be top scorer

Published:

He may have ended up 14 goals behind Luis Suarez in the goalscoring charts last year, but for Sergio Aguero, that doesn’t really paint the full picture.

Had it not been for the multitude of injuries and knocks that plagued his season, the Argentine will surely have gone close to beating the former Liverpool man’s total.

With Suarez set to taste a new challenge in Spain, the bookies are braced for ‘Kun’ to run riot again.

But with the Premier League less than a week away, Ladbrokes have brought it on themselves to boost the Citizens striker to an industry-leading 6/1, for a limited time only, to outscore his domestic competitors in the coming months.

The 26-year-old actually beat his 2012/13 tally by five goals last year, despite making seven less appearances.

In November last year, the diminutive forward became the most potent striker in Premier League history, even more so than the mercurial Thierry Henry.

Since moving to the North West in 2011, he has found the net 52 times in the league, in 6,035 minutes of game time, averaging a goal every 116 minutes.

The array of talent that he has behind him at City will surely play a part in his thirst for goals; the trio of David Silva, Yaya Toure and Jesus Navas assisted in 25 top-flight goals between them during the last campaign.

While he will have to compete for his place in the starting 11 at Eastlands with other world class strikers, there are doubts about the vast majority of his rivals for the Golden Boot.

How will Daniel Sturridge manage now his partner in crime is no longer by his side? Will Robin van Persie continue to suffer injury problems? And will the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Diego Costa cope with the switch to English football?

With all these uncertainties surrounding frontmen all around the division, the 6/1 on offer for the Manchester City number 16 should not be missed.
