Burnley Transfer Watch: Dunne and Anderson latest to be linked

Another hour, another rumour and the Burnley mill is going into overdrive with news that the Clarets are making moves for Queens Park Rangers defender Richard Dunne AND Manchester United midfielder Anderson.

If reports are to be believed then Burnley manager Sean Dyche is working on bringing in a number of defensive reinforcements to Turf Moor.

As we’ve previously mentioned, the Lancashire club are already believed to have made a bid for Norwich and Scotland international Russell Martin although that deal has since been deemed a non-starter.

But having already added Hull City forward George Boyd to their ranks the Premier League newboys could still be set to make a series of swoops on transfer deadline day with the fee for Dunne likely to be around £2m.

The 34-year-old former Republic of Ireland international has enjoyed a steady career in the top-flight, appearing for Manchester City, Aston Villa and the Rs.

However, while Dunne is the type of workmanlike player you might associate with Dyche’s side, the Daily Mail’s story about a deal for Anderson has come completely out of leftfield.

The Brazilian has struggled to make a significant impact at Old Trafford since his £20m move from Porto in 2007.

But Burnley could be about to offer the unfancied midfielder a surprising escape route.

A loan move has been mooted but whether this latest twist has any substance remains to be seen.

Burnley are 1/2 to be relegated from the Premier League this season. Would the arrival of Anderson do anything to change those odds?
