Lampard looking good for more Man City goals against Hull

Published:

Having started his supposedly-brief Manchester City career with an underwhelming appearance against Arsenal, Frank Lampard has leapt to life in the Sky Blues’ two most recent fixtures and could be the one to watch against Hull City at the weekend.

Ahead of kick-off Ladbrokes is offering a special price of 25/1 on the 36-year-old netting two or more goals against the Tigers as part of the bookmaker’s new Breaking Bets series.

Those tempting odds follow another fine showing from the now-retired England international during City’s 7-0 thumping of Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup.

The Owls had gone into the game with something of a solid defensive record in the second-tier, having kept clean sheets for three games on the bounce before their Etihad visit.

And for the first 45 minutes it appeared that Wednesday were on course for a fourth with the teams going in 0-0 at the break.

But that soon changed in the second half as Manchester City proceeded to rain an avalanche of goals down on their opponents, with none other than Lampard himself leading the charge with the first of seven unanswered second half goals for the Premier League champions.

The 36-year-old began and ended the rout, scoring his second goal of the game and City’s seventh in stoppage time to cap what has been a great week for the midfielder.

A late substitute against former club Chelsea, Lampard scored a crucial equaliser for the Citizens to rescue what could prove to be a precious point for Manuel Pellegrini’s team.

And a great week could get even better when City travel to Hull on Saturday, with Sky Blues new boy a likely candidate to grab a brace or more against the Tigers.

Steve Bruce’s team have failed to pick up three points since a slender opening day win over QPR and worse still are without a clean sheet in seven competitive games.

Lampard netted for Chelsea when the Blues met Hull at Stamford Bridge at the start of last season and on current form we are backing him to go one better here.
