Sunderland v Swansea: Visitors to leave bad taste on Wearside

Published:

Swansea doled out a pair of Premier League pastings to Sunderland last season and after a flying start to this one, will fancy their chances against Gus Poyet’s struggling side.

Due to home advantage the Black Cats are deemed the narrowest of 8/5 favourites, Swansea are 7/4 and the draw is a 9/4 poke with Ladbrokes.

Having perused the stats and assessed the form, we’ve loaded three more hot tips into the cannon:

Swansea to win and both teams to score @ 19/4

Sunderland just can’t get going this season as they head into their sixth league game bereft of a win, albeit they’ve managed to draw four of five.

In contrast, fifth-place Swansea have three wins under their belts already and can cite the misfortune of Wilfried Bony’s 39th-minute red card as a key factor in their frustrating 1-0 loss at home to Southampton.

Their hosts have at least found the net in three home games this season though and fresh from thumping Everton 3-0 in the Capital One Cup, a Swansea win in which both teams scores has appeal.

Swansea to score in both halves @ 10/3

Garry Monks’ slick attacking unit have only been prevented from notching once in their opening seven all-competition fixtures; during the aforementioned loss to the Saints with a man down.

The Swans have also made a habit of scoring either side of the oranges too, repeating the trick four times during 2014/15.

Nathan Dyer to score anytime @ 10/3

Dyer for England? Maybe not just yet, but if the fleet-footed winger carries on his fine start to the campaign then the noises will surely grow louder.

His League Cup opener against the Toffees marked his fourth successful strike of the season and he’s a tempting price to add to that burgeoning tally.
