5 potential managers capable of filling Wenger’s shoes at Arsenal

Published:

As Manchester United found out to their cost, replacing a long-serving successful manager of the calibre of Sir Alex Ferguson is not an easy process.

That is the challenge Arsenal and chief executive Ivan Gazidis face in not so distant future when Arsene Wenger finally calls time on his managerial career in north London.

“The biggest challenge we’re going to face as a club is that transition from Arsene to the next manager,” said Gazidis.

“We have a giant who’s managing us. Arsene has put the club in a great, great position.”

Don’t fear Mr Gazidis, just read Ladbrokes News to find out five potential candidates who can replace Monsieur Wenger!

And it’s safe to read on as David Moyes is nowhere to be seen!

Jurgen Klopp @ 12/1

His excellent work for Borussia Dortmund up against the might of Bayern Munich makes him a leading candidate for any job in European football.

With two Bundesliga titles to his name at the Westfalenstadion and playing an exciting brand of football, Klopp would fit the bill at the Emirates Stadium.

Gunners fans were given a first-hand taste of his work after their side’s disastrous 2-0 defeat at the hand of Dortmund earlier this season.

Pep Guardiola @ 14/1

The former Barcelona man seems happy enough in his role at Bayern Munich but we all know how the Spaniard can get bored at the drop of a hat – just ask Barca!

And there is nothing more boring than winning the Bundesliga title by February every year so if Guardiola, who is well known for his exciting brand of football, fancies testing himself in the Premier League, following Wenger could be just the job for the two-time Champions League winner!

Roberto Martinez @ 14/1

It’s well known that the Everton manager is admired at boardroom level at the Emirates and reports have suggested he could be the man to take the Gunners forward once Le Professeur hangs up his long coat.

Another Spaniard with a reputation for expansive, attacking football whose style would be at home with that of the north London club and after his European and Premier League experiences with Everton could be just the ticket for Arsenal!

Dennis Bergkamp @ 14/1

The Dutchman is quietly learning the ropes as Frank de Boer’s assistant at Ajax and will be ready to test himself in a top job at some point in the near future.

And with the Iceman already hinting at a future coaching role with the Gunners he could be ready and waiting to take over from Wenger, once the Frenchman’s time as manager is up at Ashburton Grove.

Thierry Henry @ 40/1

While Arsenal’s all-time leading goalscorer is not ready to hang up his boots just yet the Emirates faithful would be delighted to see King Henry back in north London in some capacity.

A stint in Ligue 1 with either PSG or Monaco seems to be next on the agenda for the former Gunners captain but if coaching is part of any of his future plans, don’t rule out another Arsenal return but this time in the dugout!
