Arsenal injury curse strikes again as Ozil sidelined for 12 weeks
Published:The Arsenal injury curse has struck once again with forward Mesut Ozil ruled out for up to 10-12 weeks after having a scan on a knee injury with Germany.
The German FA have confirmed the former Real Madrid star missed training and left the team’s Frankfurt base to head to Munich for a scan with team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt.
And the results have will come as a huge blow to both Arsenal and Germany with both Arsene Wenger and Joachim Loew losing a key player at a crucial stage in the season.
Germany are preparing for European Championship qualifiers against Poland and Republic of Ireland but Ozil is now certainly out of both matches.
The World Cup holders are 1/2 for victory over Poland and with or without Ozil should have plenty of quality in their squad to secure three points against a side ranked 70 in the world.
The injury will be of more concern in north London with the Gunners already missing Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Debuchy, Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Theo Walcott through injury.
Ozil now joins those players on the sidelines and will not feature for the Gunners until the New Year.
Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the Premier League campaign when they were dispatched with ease by Chelsea and Wenger’s men are now 4/9 with Ladbrokes to secure Champions League qualification.
And they will be hoping Ozil can make a full recovery and play a crucial role in the second half of the season as they chase a top four finish and look to defend the FA Cup, something they are available at 7/1 to do.
