X Factor: Can anyone stop Andrea stealing the show?

Published:

We’re only one week into this year’s X Factor live shows and already we have one contestant standing head and shoulders above the rest.

That’s certainly how the bookies see it anyway with Italian singing sensation Andrea Faustini being heavily backed to take the 2014 X Factor crown.

With one punter even going so far as to place a £5,000 bet on Andrea it seems that the 20-year-old from Rome has plenty of support.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “It’s going to be a long couple of months for the other contestants as the odds suggest Andrea’s already got this in the bag. We’ve never had an act with such short odds after just one week of live shows.”

Of course, here at Ladbrokes News we’ll be following all of the trials, tribulations and tantrums all the way until Christmas.

And as avid fans (some of us at least!) we’ll be publishing a weekly rundown of our top five acts.

Here’s how we assess the current field.

Andrea Faustini – 6/4 to win X Factor

Took on a big tune and got massive rewards. We all knew Andrea had the voice to successfully tackle Michael Jackson’s Earth Song and his pop-star makeover showed he’s also not got the looks to make it.

The fact he closed Saturday’s show is no surprise. This kid will take some stopping.

Lauren Platt – 5/1

Lauren got the thumbs up from special guest Pharrell Williams after covering his smash-hit ‘Happy’ with a bit of Massive Attack’s Teardrop thrown in for good measure.

And the judges were pretty complimentary too with Simon saying: “It made you come over like a little star.”

Fleur East – 12/1

Our outside tip before the start of live shows, bubbly Londoner Fleur has come in from 33/1 to just 12/1 following her most recent performance.

Her eye-catching outfits and increasing confidence look sure to take her deep into the competition.

Oh, and she can sing too.

Ben Haenow -5/1

Ben’s gritty take on Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ was a performance that highlighted the Croydon singer’s emergence as a real talent.

It was one of Cheryl’s top three showings of the night and has got viewers well and truly interested in the former van driver.

Stereo Kicks – 7/1

They didn’t even have a proper name last week, now Stereo Kicks are (perhaps predictably) emerging as serious contenders.

If the world needs another big boy band then these guys could fit the bill with Simon Cowell already proclaiming: “This is exciting for me, because I am seeing something potentially very good.”

Watch out One Direction.
