Man United striker given first-goal boost for West Brom clash

He may not have settled into his goal-scoring rhythm as quickly as Angel di Maria, but now Radamel Falcao has finally experienced hitting the back of the net in Manchester United red, there is a belief that the celebrations will start to come more regularly.

The Colombian netted his third goal of the season, and first for his new club, in the 2-1 win over Everton before the international break and will fancy his chances of adding to that tally when Louis van Gaal’s men travel to West Brom on Monday night.

With the scoring duck now broken, the one thing left for Falcao to do is open the scoring in a match, a feat which Ladbrokes have taken the opportunity to boost in their matchday odds.

The former Atletico Madrid hitman was a 7/2 shot to grab the game’s first goal at the Hawthorns, but can now be backed at 9/2 thanks to the bookies’ generosity.

Those inflated odds still make Falcao among the biggest fancies to notch first, alongside teammate Robin van Persie, and the Baggies defence should be extremely wary.

In a season blighted by injury last term, the 28-year-old managed to score nine goals for Monaco in Ligue 1, of which two got the scoreboard in to action.

The campaign prior to that saw the Santa Marta native in far more fluid form, where he notched 28 times for Atleti in La Liga.

On that occasion, Falcao opened the game’s goal account nine times and scored 14 of his goals in the first half.
