Man Utd target heads 3 things to excite Euro 2016 qualifying

Published:

With only San Marino and Estonia standing in the way of England taking nine points out of nine from their first three Euro 2016 qualifiers, there’s little excitement to be had in supporting Roy Hodgson’s boys during this international break.

Therefore, we’ve had a glance through the fixture list across the continent to find a few things to get worked up about this week.

Another glance at Stromsgodset kid Martin Odegaard

At the rather ridiculous age of 15 years and 10 months, Odegaard has been named in Norway’s squad for their Euro 2016 qualifier in Malta, where Per-Mathias Hogmo’s men look generously priced at 1/3 for victory.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich are both thought to be keen on the attacking-midfield tyro, who became the youngest player ever to represent his country at senior level in the goalless draw with UAE during the summer, but is yet to start a competitive international.

The latest return of Manchester City’s Stevan Jovetic

Since signing for the Citizens for £20m-plus over a year ago, the Montenegrin has hardly set the heather alight at the Etihad, starting just two Premier League matches in a first term blighted by injury.

He did manage two goals in two top-flight starts earlier this season though, before succumbing to another spell on the sidelines, and holds a decent tally of 12 in 30 appearances for his country.

After getting on for a run against Roma recently in the Champions League, Jovetic rates a fine 1/1 shout to score at any time for Montenegro away to Luxembourg.

The emergence of Barcelona’s Alen Halilovic

Although Spurs were long linked with this young Croatian, who has been billed as the new Luka Modric in some quarters, even the most ardent Lilywhites’ followers will have understood Halilovic’s decision to swap Zagreb for Catalonia over the summer.

The 18-year-old became his country’s youngest debutant against Portugal in June 2013 and, despite missing out on selection for the World Cup in Brazil, started Croatia’s first Euro 2016 qualifying fixture, which they won 2-0 at home to Malta.

Niko Kovac’s men are 6/5 to make it two Group H triumphs from two in Bulgaria.
