Price Boost: Sterling enhanced to score first against former club

Published:

Raheem Sterling hit the headlines this week after claiming he was too tired to play in England’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Estonia and Ladbrokes punters will be hoping the Liverpool man stays on the back pages this weekend.

And that’s because the England international is subject of our next first goalscorer boost and he is now 7/1 – from 6/1 – to score the first goal of the game against his former club Queens Park Rangers.

But for those of you worried about the 19-year-old being too ‘tired’ for the trip to west London, let Ladbrokes ambassador and football pundit Chris Kamara put your mind at ease:

“To be fair Sterling has had a fair few days to recover after playing just 75 minutes of football for England last weekend,” said the Goals On Sunday host.

“He’s had five days to recover without such a heavy workload and remember he did not feature for Liverpool after the previous international break when he was sat on the bench.

“Brendan Rodgers made that decision after assessing the play in training and feeling he wasn’t 100 per cent right but this time around I believe he’ll play and he’ll be ready to fire on all cylinders against his former club.

“There’s absolutely no reason why he shouldn’t start at Loftus Road and no reason why he can’t repeat his first goal scoring trick after firing first against Southampton and Tottenham earlier in the season,” Kamara added.

Sterling has been the shining light for Liverpool so far this season and is in good goal scoring form with three strikes to his name already.

On two of those occasions – against Southampton and Tottenham – the forward has notched the first goal of the game and after all the talk of the past week it would be no surprise to see his name in the headlines once again.

And Ladbrokes customers and Liverpool fans will be hoping it’s for all the right reasons this time around!
