Wales v Cyprus: Hosts’ unbeaten streak at home in no danger

Published:

Wales go into their third Euro 2016 qualifier sitting pretty at the top of Group B. However, with Belgium and Israel both breathing down their necks the Cardiff City Stadium inhabitants will know letting up against an unfancied Cyprus side isn’t an option.

Ladbrokes make the hosts 2/5 favourites to collect three points, with the visitors given little chance at 8/1 and a stalemate priced at 29/10.

There’s plenty of other ways to bet on the clash though, with three detailed below:

Wales (-1.0) to beat Cyprus @ 23/20

Some illnesses take more than one pill to cure and Cyprus’ travel sickness is one such ailment.

Before their 2-1 win over Bosnia in their last trip away from their homeland, the White and Blues had failed to win in their last 23 attempts.

With Wales on a four-game unbeaten run in front of their own fans and with Gareth Bale among their number, a one-goal deficit should be more than manageable for Chris Coleman’s side.

Bale to score first @ 9/4

An injury-ravaged Welsh side are sure to rely on their Real Madrid superstar even more than normal when Cyprus arrives in Cardiff.

The former Tottenham man has scored all of Wales’ last three goals and has seven strikes in 12 appearances for his Spanish club.

First half result – draw @ 21/20

During Coleman’s four-match streak at home the onus has certainly been on keeping things tight for the first 45 minutes.

That game plan isn’t likely to change as the Dragons bid to enhance their Euro 2016 qualification and a fifth straight first-half draw looks juicily priced.
