Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: Both McLarens to gain points in the UAE

Published:

The Formula One season has all boiled down to the final race in Abu Dhabi, but while all eyes will be transfixed by the fate of the two Mercedes, we start our betting build-up on more inconspicuous matters.

After extensive research, here are three bets to get the engines started for the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix:

Both team cars to have a Points Finish: McLaren @ 8/13

This rates a cracking bet, not least because it would have landed in two of the last three races and in half of the 18 grand prixs all-told during 2014.

Danish rookie Kevin Magnussen is chasing four consecutive points finishes for the second time this year while teammate Jenson Button has only finished outside the top 10 once in five appearances at Yas Marina Circuit.

Jenson Button to finish in the top six @ 4/6

Despite rumours suggesting the Brit may hang up his steering wheel at the end of the season, Button has been busy reminding his current, or potential future employers he still has much to offer in F1.

Driving in his trademark silky fashion, Button has proven his racing skills beyond doubt in the last four races, where he’s produced three top-six finishes since Japan.

Coming off a fourth at Interlagos, the 2010 world champion has made three podiums before in Abu Dhabi.

Sebastian Vettel to finish on the podium @ 3/1

While it has been a year of few highlights for the quadruple world champ, Vettel’s record of three race wins from five previous editions cannot be ignored.

If the Ferrari-bound German is to add to his four previous 2014 podiums and sign off from Red Bull in style, then there would be few better-suited tracks.
