Barnet v Torquay: Gulls set to be stung by Bees

Published:

With the international break now upon us it’s time for the lower leagues to take centre stage, starting with the Conference leaders Barnet against Torquay.

These two sides last met in League Two back in 2013 with the Gulls running out 3-2 winners but at The Hive it was a different story with the Bees sealing a narrow 1-0 victory.

This time around the home side are 8/11 favourites with the visitors 3/1 for the win, while the draw is available at 13/5 with Ladbrokes.

But with value the name of the game, Oliver Yew has come up with three alternative bets for this televised Conference clash.

Barnet to win and both teams to score @ 12/5

Torquay are in an awful patch of form after five straight defeats away from home and with Barnet flying high, the Gulls could be in line for their sixth successive defeat on the road.

Despite their poor form – Torquay have won one of their last seven in all competitions – Chris Hargreaves’ side have been scoring goals but they have also been conceding them by the bucket load.

In four of the five away defeats in a row Torquay have found the net and this looks an excellent value bet for the action in north London.

John Akinde to score anytime @ 11/10

With three goals in his last two games, the 25-year-old is in superb form and will be confident of continuing his scoring run against a Torquay side who have conceded nine in their last three Conference National matches.

Akinde now has 12 goals to his name this season and with seven of those coming at the Hive he looks an excellent price to add to his tally here.

Barnet to score in both halves @ 31/20

Scoring goals have not been a problem for Martin Allen’s side in recent weeks and as already mentioned, Torquay have been shipping goals left, right and centre.

The Bees have hit 11 goals in their last four matches in all competitions and two of their last three they have hit the back of the net in both halves.

Barnet could be in line for another fast start and with Torquay’s defensive woes on the road they can go on to score in both halves.
