Best bets of the weekend: Switch on to improving England

Published:

With such a huge weekend of sport ahead it’s all too easy to skip over betting’s golden nuggets and make a slapdash decision to back an also-ran.

Don’t make that mistake. We’ve crunched the numbers and cast an eye over a whole range of cross-sport best bets for the weekend so that you don’t have to.

And here’s what we’ve come up with. Like? Why not send me a tweet @williwycombe and let me know what you think.

New Zealand v England (England +6) @ 10/11

Of course we’re all excited about the upcoming Autumn Internationals.

But while we wouldn’t rush to back Stuart Lancaster’s Union boys we do think their Rugby League equivalents are worth some of your hard-earned cash.

Steve McNamara’s side are continually improving and should be trusted to cover this handicap given their recent performances against the All Blacks.

Having suffered narrow two-point defeats to New Zealand in their most recent encounters, England won’t be overawed by the challenge ahead as they bid to reach the Four Nations final.

Stephen Bunting to beat Wesley Harms @ 1/3

Enigmatic arrowsmith Stephen Bunting has taken to life in the PDC like the proverbial duck to water and looks a pretty safe choice to triumph over Dutchman Wesley Harms.

29-year-old Bunting followed-up his recent World Grand Prix semi-final appearance with a run to the last-eight of the European Championship two weeks ago and will be confident ahead of this Grand Slam of Darts assault.

Expect to see The Bullet make it a hat-trick of victories against his BDO opponent.

Graziano Pelle to anytime v Leicester @ Evens

Leicester’s Premier League bubble has well and truly burst and we know one striker who can take advantage of the Foxes’ poor form.

As our man, Oliver Yew, has already pointed out, Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is a goalscoring machine at St. Mary’s.

Five of the Italian’s nine goals in all competitions have come at home. And with the visitors winless in their last five games, Pelle is sure to pounce.
