Five things we can’t wait to see in the Premier League this weekend

After a week of Euro 2016 qualifying madness and friendly fun the Premier League returns with a belter of a match between Arsenal and Manchester United as well as several other tasty encounters.

Welbeck’s Manchester United reunion at the Emirates

Though he’ll have to wait a little longer for his return to Old Trafford, Saturday’s showdown between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates will be a hotly-anticipated one for the former Red Devils youngster.

Deemed surplus to requirements by Louis van Gaal, this match is a chance for Welbeck to prove the United boss wrong and with the visitors suffering an injury crisis of Arsenal-like proportions, now is the time for Welbeck to continue his fine form in front of goal for the Gunners.

Everton showing their top four credentials against West Ham

Europa League commitments may have so far hampered Everton’s progress this term but the Toffees remain just four points off the top four with Saturday’s home encounter with high-flying West Ham an opportunity for the Toffees to make up some ground.

The Merseysiders have beaten the Irons in each of their last four meetings and will know that a win could see them back on the Champions League trail while defeat may see them stuck in an endless cycle of Thursday night European endeavours.

Alan Pardew’s charmed existence to continue against QPR

There’s no doubt about it – Newcastle United are on a roll with Alan Pardew going from Tyneside hate-figure to Lord of the Manor in a matter of weeks and while he may not be every Toon fan’s cup of tea a win here against a QPR side without a win on the road will have the Magpies dreaming.

On a run of five consecutive wins, should other results go their way, Newcastle could find themselves in and around the top four come next week – Pardew for England anyone?

More Manchester City madness against Swansea

Seemingly in free-fall after one win in their last six, a 2-2 draw with QPR a couple of weeks back showed that it’s probably safer to expect the unexpected when it comes to City this season with the Sky Blues playing well against the big boys and bottling it against the lesser lights.

The visit of Swansea – fresh from a 2-1 win over Arsenal – could be a tricky one. City have beaten the Swans in each of their previous three Etihad trips though, which can mean only one thing – the Welsh side will probably win 1-0.

Liverpool looking to avoid another Crystanbul disaster

Palace fans take great delight in reminiscing about “that night in Crystanbul” when the Eagles came back from a 3-0 deficit to draw with Liverpool and seemingly end the Reds fading title ambitions last term.

Neil Warnock’s team aren’t in great shape though, with one point collected from their last five top-flight outings and with Liverpool on a run of three defeats, only three points will do for Brendan Rodgers team, who will be without Daniel Sturridge for a little longer too.
