Currie in a hurry! Former MP favourite for I’m A Celebrity axe

| 25.11.2014

The I’m A Celebrity contestants were treated to a surprise helping of spicy Currie this week after the former Conservative MP got involved in a set-to with fellow campmate Kendra Wilkinson that ended with the latter firing back enough expletives to make even  Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown blush.

Things started going a bit loco when the ex-Playboy model began waxing philosophical with Michael Buerk, explaining to the ex-newsreader that you should “never live your life for other people.”

Currie, lying in her bed, picked up on the comment, stating: “Did I hear you say you should never live your life for other people, ever? Count me out. I don’t agree with you.”

“Sometimes you have to make decisions that benefit other people but put you at a disadvantage.

“You’re a mother. I’m sorry sometimes you put other people first,” she later added, in a comment, alongside several others, that soon sparked an angry response.

“Get your heartless ass out of our conversations, shut the f*** up and go back to sleep where you belong,” Wilkinson responded, in the first of many, many swear-filled replies that left everyone feeling a teeny bit awkward.

It was left to 5/2 second-favourite Mel Sykes to diffuse the situation, taking the clearly-upset Playboy favourite to one side in a bid to calm her down, while Currie was left to lie in her bed – where she apparently belongs – to think about what she had done.

Not that it will make much difference now, with ITV viewers clearly in Team Kendra according to Ladbrokes, who revealed that 89 per cent of elimination wagers placed since Monday night’s show have gone on the Tory going next.

Currie is now the 7/4 favourite to be the first celebrity to leave, with ‘Allo ‘Allo star Vicki Michelle back at 5/2 and Kendra a distant 5/1.

Ladbrokes’ Jessica Bridge said: “It’s not the first time Edwina’s been caught up in a major scandal, but the money suggests punters are keen on her being ousted once again.”

There’s been little change in the I’m A Celebrity Winner market, meanwhile, with Jimmy Bullard the overwhelming 4/6 favourite to win, though X Factor reject Jake Quickenden has emerged as a contender at 5/1.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
