Man Utd planning to trade one superstar striker for another

Ahead of Manchester United’s home clash with Hull in the Premier League, news has seeped out of Old Trafford that Louis van Gaal is planning a summer overhaul of his strike-force, which doesn’t include keeping Radamel Falcao.

Although Falcao could be back in contention for the visit of the Tigers, where United can be backed as 1/3 favourites to prevail, the Colombian has struggled to get match fit since joining on loan from Monaco on trasfer deadline day.

Arriving in England off the back of a serious knee injury which prevented him from appearing at the World Cup, Falcao took a couple of weeks to get into the matchday squad and his since been missing for the Red Devils’ last four games.

Worried by the striker’s susceptibility to injury, rumours have aired that the £43.5 buy-out clause Van Gaal might have sanctioned to make Falcao’s deal permanent this summer, will now be swerved.

Instead, the Dutchman has designs on trying to prise away Edinson Cavani from Paris St-Germain.

A player in a similar mould to Falcao, the Uruguayan cost the French champions £50m from Napoli, though Cavani has consistently been labelled as unhappy with things in Paris.

Playing in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is thought to be one of the main reasons for his unsettled spell at the Parc des Princes.

Van Gaal is thought to be a big admirer of Cavani though, and if United regain a top-four slot this move really will have wings.
