Manchester City v CSKA Moscow: Welcome to the Aguero show

| 04.11.2014

Nothing but a win will do for Manchester City this week but with CSKA Moscow claiming victory in just one of their last four games, Sky Blues fans should be confident of victory at the Etihad.

The Citizens can be backed at 1/4 to pick up all three points this Wednesday, while the Russians are a distant 9/1 to triumph and those who fancy a repeat of the draw witnessed in Eastern Europe can get 11/2 on a similar outcome with Ladbrokes.

But for those seeking bets offering a little more bang for their buck, the following three tips look too good to miss out on ahead of this crunch Champions League encounter.

Aguero to score and Manchester City to win @ 3/4

While I’m rarely that keen to tip up an odds on shout, the fact is that you may well end up kicking yourself if you fail to capitalise on Sergio Aguero’s fine record both in the Premier League and more specifically against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

Sunday’s decisive goal in the 1-0 triumph over Manchester United at the Etihad was the Argentine’s 10th top-flight goal of the season and his fifth in City’s last two home games. With four goals scored across each of his previous three meetings with CSKA, this is your chance to lump on and cash in.

Manchester City (-2) to win @ 31/20

The Sky Blues may have stumbled to a 2-2 draw in Russia, having been 2-0 up and cruising, but we can’t see anything other than a comfortable win for the Premier League champions, who put CSKA to the sword at Eastlands last term in a 5-2 triumph that helped kick start their campaign.

With two of their last three victories at home coming by a margin of three goals or more, it could therefore pay to back another one-sided win for Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

Over 4.5 total goals to be scored @ 11/5

For those still cautious about backing a heavy win for the Sky Blues, it could still be worth lumping on goals galore in Manchester.

With Sheffield Wednesday losing 7-0 and Tottenham going down 4-1 in recent weeks at the Etihad there is form for goals aplenty. Factor in that Roma romped to a 5-1 win at home against CSKA and it’s looking like being another eventful fixture. Take advantage.
