McIlroy to see off Scott at Emirates Australian Open again

Despite the Emirates Australian Open not being affiliated to the PGA or European Tour schedules, the flagship tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia calendar has still attracted two of golf’s titans to the Royal Sydney Golf Club.
Other than helping to promote the sport Down Under the main reason great Australian hope Adam Scott and the official best on the planet, Rory McIlroy, are back in New South Wales, is the minimum 32 world ranking points available to the winner.
Tournament favourite McIlroy displaced Scott as world number one in August 2014 following his Bridgestone Invitational triumph.
However, the Queenslander remains No.2 and will be especially keen on reeling the Ulsterman in and exacting revenge at this event, with a fresh season underway.
If the 2013 edition of this tournamnet is anything to go by, spectators are in for a treat, while punters would be wise to back Race to Dubai winner McIlory at 5/2 to laud it over 4/1-shot Scott once Sunday’s scorecards are in for successive years.
Going into the final round 12 months ago the Northern Irishman managed to claw back a four-shot lead from his Aussi counterpart, shooting an exemplary 66, while a jittery 71 did for Scott who finished up a shot shy.
That victory kick-started McIlory’s return to form, while for Scott it prevented him grabbing Australian golf’s Triple Crown and simultaneously highlighted a potential final-round nerviness to the 34-year-old’s game, witnessed to agonising effect at the 2012 Open Championship.
After a five-week lay-off McIlroy’s tied-second at the recent DP Tour Championship in Dubai dispelled any notions of rustiness too.
Meanwhile, at 25/1, Aussie John Senden is an each-way must, having posted finishes of 3,18, 2 and 4 in his last four appearances, while he’s 5/1 for the top five and 2/1 for yet another top-10 posting.
