Tottenham v Stoke: Back another Europa hangover for Spurs

Published:

While Tottenham Hotspur have endured a largely poor start to the season in the Premier League, winning just four of their first 10 games, their overall recent form makes for better reading.

Including their more productive midweek exploits, Spurs have won four of their past five games in all competitions.

However, we’re expecting another weekend slump at White Hart Lane, meaning the first of our best bets is to avoid backing the hosts to win at 8/13.

Double Chance: Stoke @ 23/20

Spurs have already lost three of the five league games they’ve played in front of their fans this season, with Liverpool, West Brom and Newcastle all coming away from London with three points.

The common thread through those matches is that they all followed a Europa League outing, and Spurs have in fact lost nine of their past 16 league games after Thursday night action.

Stoke have also avoided defeat in three of their last five matches at White Hart Lane, and three of their five away games in the Premier League this term, including a 1-0 win at Manchester City,

Both teams to score @ 9/10

Mauricio Pochettino is yet to get to grips with his defence at Spurs, who have conceded in all but one of their past eight league matches.

Both teams have netted in five of the Lilywhites last six in all competitions, while the same is true of four of the Potters’ past five.

Second half to have the most goals @ 11/10

Fans at White Hart Lane this term have generally found most of the entertainment available in the second half, with six of the last eight matches at Spurs seeing the bulk of their goals in the second half.

That has also been the case in two of the Potters’ last three matches away at the Lilywhites.
