USA Grand Prix: Ricciardo to get back on podium in best bets
Published:All the talk going into the United States Grand Prix will naturally surround the pair of Mercedes occupying the front of the grid, but a certain Australian back on row three headlines are best bets over in Austin.
Nico Rosberg will start the Grand Prix from pole having turned in a devastating lap in Q3, but as our tips for the race reveal, we still don’t envisage the German taking the chequered flag ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
Daniel Ricciardo for a podium finish @ 13/8
Having done exceptionally well to stay on the coattails of both Williams in qualifying, who have the second row locked down, fifth-placed Ricciardo is in a great position on the grid to make an eighth podium of the season.
Keeping his Renault-engined Red Bull so close to the Mercedes-powered Williams around the straight-heavy Circuit of the Americas bodes particularly well for the two-time 2014 Grand Prix winner.
His current two-race absence from champagne-spraying duties is Ricciardo’s longest stretch off the podium since his initial top-three finish at the Spanish Grand Prix back in May.
Lewis Hamilton to win the USA Grand Prix @ 1/1
With both the Brit and his Silver Arrow teammate just ahead of him on the grid priced up on a par to claim the honours we side with Hamilton.
On Sundays when it really matters, the 2012 USA Grand Prix winner has been far superior to Rosberg during this four-race winning stretch and showed in Singapore that he can still claim the honours from second on the grid.
Safety car to be deployed during the race @ 1/1
Another punt selected from the 50/50, two-horse race school of thought, this could be a corker.
In the previous two editions of the Texas-based race, the safety car has been called into action once, and that was last year.
