Arsenal v Southampton: Sanchez to show Gunners are the real top four side

Published:

Arsenal go into their midweek clash with Southampton looking to show the Saints what being a real top four club is all about.

The Gunners have recovered from a shaky patch to win their last two games, while Ronald Koeman’s surprise package have failed to win their last two.

As such, it is Arsene Wenger’s side that go into the match as 4/5 favourites, with the draw on at 13/5 and a return to winning ways for Southampton on priced up at 7/2.

With Arsenal unattractively priced, however, James Curtis highlights three of the best bets for this Wednesday night clash.

Arsenal to win to nil @ 19/10

With Arsenal’s confidence restored and Southampton’s currently ebbing it stands to reason that this fixture should go the way it has done many times in the past – with Arsenal winning.

The Gunners have lost just one of the last 10 meetings with the Saints, and while four of those games ended all square the wins have been of the convincing variety.

Arsenal have kept to clean sheets on the bounce – against Dortmund and West Brom – while Southampton failed to score against Manchester City last time out in what was arguably their first real test of the season.

Alexis Sanchez to score first @ 4/1

Quite where Arsenal would be without their summer signing is anyone’s guess but Sanchez’s form this season make it impossible not to back him at this price.

Not only has the Chilean netted seven goals in his last seven games for the club, but he has shown an uncanny knack for being the first to find the net in Arsenal’s matches.

Sanchez has racked up 13 goals in 21 games so far this season and seven of those have seen him open the scoring!

Arsenal to win 2-0 @ 7/1

If the Arsenal to win to nil market tempts then so should this Correct Score prediction.

The Gunners have netted exactly two goal in four of the last 10 meetings with Southampton and in three of their last six games at home.
